The
day after Fat Tuesday in 1998, Stanton Moore and friends entered
Magazine Sound Recording studio to record his solo album. The sessions
lasted 5 days and members of Stanton's New Orleans-based band Moore
and More laid down some tracks as well as Blue Note 8-string guitarist
Charlie Hunter
who became friendly with Galactic at a show at the Great American
Music Hall the year before when he was invited to join the band
onstage for a tune or two...but Charlie was having a hard time leaving
so he wound up staying for the rest of the gig. It was there that
Stanton spoke with Charlie about playing on his solo album, and
Hunter was happy to participate. In addition, saxologist from Critters
Buggin and Tuatara joined the two and they recorded a bunch of spontanteous
material in the five days in the studio.
