Modern Approach to New Orleans Drumming, featuring Stanton Moore,
will establish the foundation of grooves for the 21st Century. In
this second of two DVD's Stanton demonstrates how to blend contemporary
ideas such as simple stickings, linear drumming and the combination
of other styles with the traditional Second Line to create a new
approach to New Orleans drumming. He shares his ideas on how to
bring character to a groove by paying attention to details and adding
inflection while staying true to the underlying rhythmic structure.
Also included is Stanton's personal approach to incorporating Mambo,
Guaguanco, Shuffle, Boogaloo, Bossa-nova and Samba with Second Line
drumming to add a modern and progressive flair to his playing.
The unique flavor
of New Orleans drumming is made up of a melting pot of rhythmic
traditions drawing from African , European, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Haitian
and many other cultures. You'll gain special access to Stanton's
