Stanton Moore and War Chief Juan Pardo present a clinic on the Mardi Gras Indians
and their influence on the Music of New Orleans. Juan Pardo is one of the young
Mardi Gras Indian chiefs carrying on this rich tradition of the Indians in Modern
Day New Orleans. He has studied the vocal and percussive stylings of the prominent
chiefs and tribes and how they influence andpermeate different styles of music.
He is featured on the opening track of Galactic's new album Carnivale Electicos.
He and Stanton will play together and discuss the history of the Indians in New
Orleans. They will explore specific rhythms, where they come from and how they
have influenced countless musicians and other styles of music. They will also
be answering questions.
The Jazz Fest performance
workshop series is an up close and intimate experience
with some of your favorite musicians.  Come learn what
motivates, inspires, and influences these musicians.  These
workshops are not only for the serious musicians but
also for the dedicated fans as well.  All ages welcome!Â

Most notably known for his guitar work in the New Orleans
Klezmer All-Stars, Jonathan Freilich has released his
first solo album! Enlisting the help of old Klezmer All-Stars
band-mate Stanton Moore, the record was
recorded and mixed by Mike Napolitano at Galactic studios
in November 2006. "This recording came about when my
old friend, Stanton Moore, suggested that I do a recording
of my compositions with him and some of the people that
he had formed associations with since our time playing
together in The New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars," says
