STANTON MOORE DRUM COMPANY OF NEW ORLEANS
Stanton Moore is pleased to announce the release of his long awaited signature Titanium snare drum available here by June 1st!

"The whole idea started about 6 or 7 seven years ago when I met drumsmith Ronn Dunnett for the first time and started to become familiar with his incredible drums. I saw some of his titanium drums and I was intrigued. He explained the sound characteristics of titanium and I became very interested in the sonic possibilities. I asked Ronn if he could make one as a 4x14. His reply was something along the lines of 'I'll give it a shot.' A few months later Ronn presented me with the 1st prototype. I immediately fell in love with the drum - its sound, its tone and its feel. As I was playing to larger rooms with Galactic, I needed a drum that would be sensitive and buttery enough for the intricate buzz roll work that I do with some of the New Orleans second line grooves, but would also cut through a loud funk band when I smacked a back beat. This drum had what I was looking for." READ MORE

In addition, there are some fresh new Stanton Moore Drum Company T-shirts now available. Visit Stanton's Official Store for details.

NEW DOWNLOAD: TAKE IT TO THE STREET (THE MUSIC)
To kick things off with my new digital label Moore Music, I am releasing Take It To The Street (The Music), the music from my 'Take It To The Street' book and DVD project. The music was recorded with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and features George Porter Jr. and Ivan Neville on select tracks.

I've always enjoyed listening back to the music we recorded for the project. For the book and DVD, only a few tunes could be included on each due to space issues and the tunes needed to be faded out after a few minutes. Included here is the majority of the tunes from the project in their entirety including a couple of bonus tracks that didn't make it into the original project.

As I was growing up and developing musically in New Orleans it was always a dream of mine to play with members or the Dirty Dozen and the Meters. My dad used to come into my bedroom and listen to me practice to the Dozen's 'Voodoo' and the Meters' 'Look-a Py Py' albums. As you can imagine it was quite a thrill for me to play this music for this project with the Dozen and George Porter Jr. I hope you all enjoy hearing this music as much as I enjoyed playing it. -Stanton

STALETTA FEST: A Benefit for the Tipitina's Foundation
Celebrating the marriage of Aletta and Stanton Moore
Married in Mexico 7.30.08

Staletta Fest was an event to be remembered and everything went off great.  The line up was top notch and featured Preservation Hall, Rebirth Brass Band, George Porter Jr. (with Stanton manning the drums),  Big Sam's Funky Nation and The Morning 40 Federation.   The silent auction ran smoothly with lots of great items.  A substantial amount of money was raised and the Staletta Fund has now been set up.  The Staletta Fund is a scholarship fund that Stanton and Aletta have set up to benefit outstanding young  New Orleans musicians.  There are lots of great young musicians who have been coming to the Tipitina's Sunday Music Workshops.  Some of them have been getting accepted to jazz camps and auditions around the country.  The Staletta fund will help cover costs for these young NOLA music students to realize their musical dreams and further their education.

You can donate to the fund by going to Tipitinas.com.  Please specify that you are donating to the Staletta Fund.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS:
Stanton started The Tipitina's Sunday Music Workshops after Hurricane Katrina with Deborah and Johnny Vidacovich to give the kids of New Orleans an outlet to learn from local and national professional musicians. The proceeds from Staletta Fest will go to establish a scholarship program that will help outstanding students cover expenses to jazz camps and auditions around the country.

Stanton says…"There was a thing called the Young People's Jazz Forum every Sunday at Tip's when I was in high school. This is where I met and started learning from Johnny. The workshops were important because I got to play with better musicians and I could get tips from Johnny on a weekly basis. This was also my first exposure to Tipitina's and I remember standing on that stage and looking into the balcony thinking 'one day I'm going to headline this place.'"

STANTON ON NEW GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING ALBUM BY IRMA THOMAS
Stanton is part of an all-star cast of Louisiana musicians who played on the new grammy award-winning album by Irma Thomas entitled After the Rain. The Soul Queen of New Orleans brings her rich and resonant vocals to a surprisingly varied repertoire that spans 75 years of American songwriting, the common thread being Irma's soulful and direct-from-the-heart delivery. Recorded at rural Dockside Studio in Maurice, Louisiana only months after Hurricane Katrina, 'After the Rain' is a remarkable declaration of resilience, presenting Irma Thomas at her very best.

ROBERT WALTER - SUPER HEAVY ORGAN
Stanton contributes to funky keyboardist Robert Walter's latest release Super Heavy Organ recorded in New Orleans. In addition to Stanton, Walter chose top musicians to help the vibe, such as drummers Johnny Vidacovich and bassist James Singleton. “I had been performing in New Orleans for years. As a kid I was obsessed with the music coming out of this city. I made a decision to come here and experience it first hand. It’s the best move I have ever made. I have been lucky enough to record an album with some of my favorite musicians, people who have influenced me,” remarks Walter. “My concept was not to imitate New Orleans music of the past, but to infuse the tradition with my own ideas,” he describes. The resulting music is both exploratory and modern while maintaining its ties to the heritage of jazz. It is unquestionably innovative and funky at the same time. Check out www.RobertWalter.com for more info.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY
Stanton joined forces with the Grammy-nominated heavy rockers from North Carolina, Corrosion of Conformity to record In the Arms of God on Sanctuary Records. The band was very excited to work with Moore. Over the past year, COC found themselves writing intense material and needed a drummer who could not only handle it but take it to another level. Lead vocalist/guitarist Pepper Keenan, who had since moved back to his hometown of New Orleans, called his old friend Moore to ask him if he knew any drummers up for the task. Moore laughed. "Yeah, me," he said. Within four days, COC was in New Orleans undertaking a musical adventure without a map. "He's one of the most progressive drummers I know," Keenan says of Moore. "In the heavy metal world nobody really knows who he is, but after they hear this they will. He's an accomplished jazz drummer playing manic heavy music - I've never heard anything like it." Check out the video for "Stonebreaker" from the album in the A/V section!
